LCF + The Heatwave: designing costumes for carnival
In July 2017, I had the opportunity to create a video for London College of Fashion LCF. The mini film captures the exciting collaborative work between the UAL Insights students with the east London dancehall musicians: The Heatwave. Their objective is not easy: to create the perfect outfits for The Heatwave dancers: The Stage Invaders, in only five days. In three minutes the video shows you the creative process of these amazing students that start from zero. From the election of the fabric to the creation of the final outfits that The Stage Invaders will use in the Nothing Hill Carnival 2017.
LCF + Rehearsal Heatwave Reel
One week after the creation of the outfits, and only one week before the big show, I created a short reel for LCF social media platforms. In only 30 second you can feel what the dancers felt while they where testing their new outfits for the Hot Wuk at O2 Forum Kentish Town. No more time needed to realize the talent of the Stage Invaders and how they take control over the music, their body and the whole environment. These are the real Dancehall moves.
One of the most prestigious colleges of the University of the Arts: The London College of Fashion, hired me to create a video that reflected the excitement in the 25 year Costume for Performance Alumni Event. The three minute film shows the gathering of students that are about to begin, are currently cursing and have finished the Course of Costume for Performance. There is a lot going on: new tutors are entering the College, old ones are leaving but, most importantly, everyone is having a great time. Current students give their amazing conceptual ideas behind their creations and old students talk about their current work as costume creators for the Lion King Musical or the famous movie director Tim Burton in The Walt Disney Company.
